365. Photographer Alik Melkonyan

Project “365” is my struggle with myself. I conceived it as a tool: to improve my skills, step out of my comfort zone, and overcome laziness. But over time, I realized that the project became more than just training. Through photography, I discovered myself in a new way. Thanks to daily work, after four months I defined what I want to shoot: I found my genre, style, and visual language.

At this point, the original goal of the project has been achieved, and it is beginning to unfold in a new way. I noticed that on the path to a good photograph — the kind you might capture only once a month — lie thousands of “ordinary” ones. The paradox is that I don’t want to give life to them; most of them I’d rather delete once and for all.

Now I want to allow myself to publish ordinary and imperfect photographs. That is why the remaining eight months will be an exploration of my own routine. “365” is becoming an album of my ordinary, imperfect photographs made throughout this year.
